Jacqueline Fernandez is a Sri Lankan actress from Manama, Bahrain and was raised in a multi-ethnic family. The father of Jacqueline's Elroy Fernandez hails originally from Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is Malaysian. Her brothers are younger and one older sister. The 80s were the time when her parents emigrated to Bahrain because of civil war in Sri Lanka. As a result, she was both born and raised in Bahrain. After graduating from high school in Bahrain she won the Scholarship at the University of Sydney to pursue the Media and Communications Degree in Sydney, Australia. She was also a student at the Berlitz school of languages that helped her learn French, Arabic and Spanish. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March of 2006, and later competed as Miss Universe 2006 also. As a result of winning Miss Sri Lanka in 2006, Padukone began working as a TV host. She was the host of the program Lanka Business Report which focused on the business of Sri Lanka. Padukone had the honor of being a daughter of badminton champion Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew up in Bangalore and is a native of Copenhagen. While still a teenager, Padukone was a participant in numerous championships for national badminton. However, she resigned from the sport when she decided to pursue a career as a professional model. Padukone's native language is Konkani. She is Mangalorean by origin. Her ancestors hail from the village Padukone within the Kundapura Taluk, in the Udupi district of Karnataka state in India. Prakash Padukone is her father and was a badminton player of international fame. Her mother works as an agent for travel.
